Project Type: Installation, Competition Location: Metis, Quebec Status: Design Stumbling upon a yard of discarded curved plywood offcuts, we saw an opportunity to envision an engaging dialogue with urban waste. Les Rebuts is a submission to the 25th International Garden Festival at Jardin de Metis, QC. The construction industry produces significant waste, contributing to ecological harm. Our project repurposes this waste by integrating it with resilient amaranths, an underutilized plant requiring minimal resources while supporting ecosystems. Amaranths provide grains and foliage, fostering interactions between waste, wildlife, and humans to explore regenerative possibilities. Symbolizing resilience and strength, the plant thrives in harsh conditions, offering a hopeful vision for sustainable coexistence.
